Fitting The Back

back-on

The back has been glued onto the ribs. At this stage the mould is still inside the ribs. The edges of the back are still quite square and will be given their final rounded finish at a later stage.

removing-mould

The mould, which was lightly glued to the blocks, has been removed. This is the stage where it begins to feel like a violin - resonant and light (about 175gm).

trimming-blocks

Now that the mould has been removed I can fit the top linings - this process has been described in post (4). The blocks are now being trimmed down to their final shapes.

blocks-and-linings

The blocks have been trimmed and the interior now has a more-or-less guitar-like shape
